Healthy Lifestyle Programme

The successful Green Prescription (GRx) Healthy Lifestyle Programmes run weekly during the school term and offer participants an opportunity to improve their wellbeing by trying new activities, learning about nutrition and beng part of a motivated group in a supportive environment . The purpose of our programme is to provide the knowledge and tools to enable participants to continue with positive health changes long-term.

What is involved?

The programmes run for two hours once a week . The first hour is an education session which includes recognising and overcoming barriers to exercise, goal setting, how to set up a safe home circuit and nutritional advice.  The nutrition sessions include, label reading, supermarket tours and healthy cooking on budget.

The second hour is a physical activity component.  This session provides you with knowledge of a range of local community physical activity options, (taichi, pacific style aerobics, aqua exercise) and home activities such as walking, sit and be fit, circuits and much more.

Optional health assessments are available at the beginning and the conclusion of the programme. Assessment enable participants to monitor their progress over the 10 weeks and see the results a healthy lifestyle can improve to your overall well being.

The GRx Healthy Lifestyle Programme is proudly supported by Primary Health Organisations, Regional Public Health, Hutt Valley DHB and Lower Hutt City Council.
